Rock School Arts Foundation Summer Camps

Kindergarten through Second Grade
10:00am – 12:00pm
Title of Camp: Exploring Asia Instructor: Alecia Franca
Description of art instruction: Campers will complete a work of art each day of camp to bring home. Each piece will be themed around Asian culture and demonstrate multiple art techniques, including drawing, painting, and working with paper. Students will also get to experience non-traditional forms of painting such as using a straw to blow paint across a paper to create branches. Instruction and information provided will help campers to learn about and create art from a different culture.
Third through Fifth Grades
1:00pm – 3:00pm
Title of Camp: Nurturing the Power of Your Child’s Imagination
Instructor: Dr. Tim Boyd Description of art instruction: Campers will complete five creative “masterpieces” to bring home and display. Natural materials and the camper's imagination will be used to create the works. Some of the materials used will be discovered on short walks around the Old Rock School; others will be provided.

“think outside the box."
Fee: $60.00 for the week

Handmade Paper Workshop

Learn to make paper using materials and equipment you have at home.
Context & Contrast Workshop
Artist Jack Stone
June 11th from 10am-3pm (Lunch Break 12-1)
Spend four hours investigating the themes of context and contrast in painting through a medium of your preference. Workshop will be held in the RSAF Studio 101 / Old Rock School, Valdese, NC Park and enter on the east side of the building. Cost of the workshop is $25.00 for members/$30.00 for non-members. Minimum number to hold this workshop is 12 with maximum of 15.
